Summer (then played by Hunter King) was run out of town in a most implausible scenario. King was voluntarily leaving the cast at that time. So, the character she long played felt compelled to bend to the pressure Sally was applying.

Devoted fans surely felt that the plot point was thin, as Summer learned how to be a fighter from the example her mother set. The Young And The Restless Updates – Adam Newman Reacts To Full Rejection

Adam’s sneaky dinner plan flopped. He set up a romantic night for Sally on The Grand Phoenix Hotel’s rooftop.

Sally wanted no part of Adam’s pitch. But she agreed because being in his presence affects her.

Grossman’s alter ego did not want to get involved with Sally when she first began pursuing her last year. But she persisted, he relented, and the chase eventually switched.

Sally’s rejection has hurt Adam badly. He has no instant replacement, which means he will wallow in self-pity indefinitely.

Hope’s character believes Nick represents a more mature option. That is reflective of Nick stressing the friends-only nature of their link. But viewers anticipate a return to romance soon.
