Royal Family News: Princess Eugenie’s New Baby Radically Alters the Monarchy
British royal family news divulges the happy revelation that Princess Eugenie of York and her husband Jack Brooksbank are soon to be brand new parents, with their first baby expected any day now. The newest royal baby will be Queen Elizabeth’s ninth great-grandchild and Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s first grandchild.
As you might expect, the new royal birth will not be just any ordinary child coming into the world, there are titles and rankings and the UK line of succession to take into account!
Royal Family News: Princess Eugenie is Expecting a Baby
As such, Eugenie’s baby’s arrival is momentous, in more ways than one. When he or she is born, the little one will actually move the line of succession, resulting in the pushing back of two of the Queen’s children who currently are in line to inherit the British monarchy.
Eugenie is now 10th in line, and her baby will become 11th in line to the throne when it is born. How does this alteration affect the current path to the throne? The new birth will push back the place of the Queen’s youngest son, Prince Edward, to the 12th in line. And accordingly, this also affects his two children and their places in line. His son Viscount Severn and daughter Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor, will be pushed back to take the 13th and 14th place in the royal conga line, respectively.
Royal Family News: The Line of Succession is Complicated
But wait, there’s more! The newest royal arrival will effectively bump the Queen’s daughter, Princess Anne, from 14th to 15th place in the line of succession. Boom!
Right now the Queen’s oldest son Prince Charles is first in line to the throne, and because he is in his 70s much speculation has been made as to if and when he will ever get to wield the scepter.
Following hms is his son Prince William (second) who is followed by his son Prince George (third), his daughter Princess Charlotte (fourth), and his son Prince Louis (fifth).
Royal Family News: When Does Prince Charles Become King?
Prince Harry is sixth in line, followed by his son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. Believe it or not, the new royal arrival won’t affect the placement of Prince William’s children nor Prince Harry’s children. That is because they themselves were born ahead of Eugenie in the line of succession.
