Review: National Geographic Kids Magazine #HolidayGiftGuide #Giveaway

Tis’ the season for learning about the world!

As a child, I always had a natural curiosity about the world and the things within in it. There was no stopping me from learning about the different animals that exist on our beautiful planet. I also took an interest in learning about the different countries and cultures of the world. I can’t tell you how many times I looked through my nanny’s extensive collection of National Geographic magazines as a kid.

National Geographic Kids understands curiosity starts at a young age. The society publishes two magazines – National Geographic Kids Magazine and National Geographic Little Kids to further inspire a child’s curiosity of the world.

The National Geographic Kids magazine is full of interesting facts about the world with photos and fun activities geared towards children ages six and up. Children learn about animals, science, technology, archaeology, geography, and pop culture through different games, jokes and activities in every issue.  The photos are outstanding and issues often include posters.

At the moment, my 2½-year-old daughter, Ava, receives the National Geographic Little Kids magazines in the mail. This magazine is primarily aimed at preschoolers: kids from ages three to six will enjoy the magazine. The content is similar to that of the other magazine, but the text is larger and has engaging photography suited to a younger audience. Activities include mazes, matching games, counting exercises, and rhymes. The magazine often comes with pullout cards which my daughter particularly enjoys playing with after we read the magazine.

The Little Kids magazine is also ad-free, so young children aren’t bombarded with information that can distract them from what’s important.

To tell you the truth, I wasn’t away that there was a National Geographic kids addition since my kids are through college now. That is wonderful. Very educational but yet I am sure the kids have fun with it too.
