Rosie O’Donnell Might Be Blocked From ‘The View’ Return By This Host

There has been a lot of shared anger between Rosie O’Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg. In fact, this feuding relationship was originally established 20 years ago, when O’Donnell first joined as a co-host on the ABC talk show in 2006.

Her tenure was a short-lived one, promptly ending in 2007. In 2014, she returned to the talk show, only to exit less than a year later due to some health complications.

Even though she wouldn’t be said to have had a storied run on the show, fans were still eager to know if the 64-year-old has plans to go back.

Rosie O’Donnell Reveals Plans To Guest Host ‘The View’

On June 29, O’Donnell appeared on Watch What Happens Live, where she was questioned by fans about whether she sees herself returning to ‘The View.’

Her response was a surprising one, as O’Donnell admitted that she would be willing to return as a part of the panel in the way of a guest judge. What’s holding her back? “…they haven’t asked me.”

This seems to go directly opposite her 2020 sentiments, where she insisted she would not return as long as Whoopi Goldberg continues to occupy a seat in the panel.

“I think we all agreed … that it was better for everyone. Whoopi really didn’t like me,” she told Howard Stern at the time.

O’Donnell has been living in Ireland since 2025, after she denounced Donald Trump’s shocking presidential re-election. Since then, she’s decidedly opted to step back from Hollywood things and instead shift her focus to acquiring Irish citizenship.

However, she surprised fans when she returned to the US for the Tony Awards and stayed for a lineup of events.

During her chat with Andy Cohen, O’Donnell also reacted to Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s week-long return to ‘The View’ as a guest coach in March. Hasselbeck, if you can recall, was another co-host that O’Donnell famously feuded with during her time on the talk show.

“I did catch her on it,” she said, before taking a swipe at Hasselbeck by adding, “You know, it’s interesting in the time of [President Donald] Trump, I think she’s the perfect person they want on TV spouting their rhetoric, you know?”

When Rosie O’Donnell left the show in 2007, Goldberg was called in as her replacement. And while O’Donnell’s return as a guest judge would by no means affect Goldberg’s all-important job of moderator, a source hinted that she would nevertheless not stand for it.

“The personal relationship has improved tremendously. But that doesn’t automatically mean Whoopi wants Rosie back at the table,” a source told entertainment reporter Rob Shuter.
