Anderson Cooper: Fatherhood Outweighs Spotlight At 60 Minutes?

Right now, a lot of people seem thunderstruck because Anderson Cooper leaves 60 Minutes on CBS. Some folks seem angry and got their panties in a twist about politics. However, many others supported his move. Read on for more details.
Time To Ease Back
After almost 20 years of sharing his time between CNN and the CBS show, Anderson Cooper chose a new path and decided he’d leave 60 Minutes. Over the years, the journalist with his signature silver hair traveled a lot, and in fact, found himself going all ovet the place.
This week’s news is that Anderson feels a bit less like enduring so much travel and camera time. And, the reason seems relatable to many people. In fact, he wants family time.
Kids Count
Most people know that Cooper raises two cute kids these days: Wyatt and Sebastian. When USA Today covered the story, the news anchor emphasized that going forward, his family comes first.

In a statement to Variety, Cooper said:
For nearly 20 years, I’ve been able to balance my jobs at CNN and CBS, but I have little kids now and I want to spend as much time with them as possible, while they still want to spend time with me.
Pretty much, every dedicated parent would love to scale back the workload and spend time with their kids. After all, little ones don’t hang about and they grow up way too fast. Well, it seems that Anderson plans to be there with them for as much time as possible.
Reponses On Social media
Over on Reddit, many people who responded to the news didn’t seem very upset about his choice. Well, truthfully, a lot of people sidetracked the discussion into politics and news reporting. However, those who relate to family matters seemed kind.
One of them penned, “Technically he never had to even get a job or career with who his family is. Dude doesn’t have to work, but enjoys journalism, good for him.”
Despite coming from a prominent family, Anderson always seemed authentic. So, folks in support feel it’s very refreshing seeing him drop part of the job he loves for his kids.
Other Folks Take A Step Back
Of course, Anderson Cooper isn’t the only beloved face from TV who made that sort of choice. Over on General Hospital, many ABC fans felt shocked because Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) from also announced a departure.
In Steve Burton’s case, case, he noted that it’s a temporary hiatus. But, his reasons echoed those of Cooper. He’s under pressure at work and decided that as a recently married stepdad and husband, he needed time for his family as well.
Still On TV But Less Screen Time
Those who love seeing Anderson on their screens will still find him over on CNN. However, his 60 Minutes departure seems like a door that closed. Not that he financially needs a new door. Still, hints arrive that if he changes his mind, CBS might keep a chair for him at the table.
For now, though, Cooper seems rather more inclined to be a hands-on dad with more time spent on bath, bed, and story time.
