Whitney Purvis Pays $4K, Escapes Jail For Child Support

Whitney Purvis, who first appeared on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant, has had a lot of trouble in her life. In fact, fans can honestly say that recently she’s been in more words about court dockets than she probably ever spoke on the show. Well, for once, she managed to avoid time behind bars. Read on for more details.
Avoiding Jail Time
TMZ reported that ahead of Christmas, Whitney Purvis managed to come up with some child support cash. So, she escaped time behind bars for that. A court order against her required a payment of $4,000, and she somehow found the money for it.

Obviously, that sounds like good news for her. However, the MTV alum still has other issues that she deals with. Remember, she’s still dealing with a felony arrest from earlier this year.
At the time, she was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter and drug distribution. Sadly, she allegedly supplied a friend, John Mark Harris, with drugs that later killed him.
Weston Passed Away
Aside from that, devastating news arrived when her son, Weston Jr., passed away unexpectedly. It’s not clear how he died, but he was just 16 when he was found unresponsive in his bed. She’d previously lost custody of her kids, but she was still devastated. Later, due to some sort of mix-up, she never made it to the funeral. She called it her “worst nightmare come true.”
Apart from that, her troubles also included an old arrest for alleged shoplifting. Her story is a sad one, and certainly it shows how some people can really mess up their life with their decision making. Hopefully paying the child support money shows a new leaf turned.
Fans React
When TMZ shared the news on Instagram, Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant fans were able to comment. One of them wrote, “Prison time for child support is absolutely outrageous. Prison should be for dangerous criminals only.”
Here are a few more responses from the discussion:
- I agree prison is extreme but they still need to be held accountable in some type of way.
- Well She Did Kill A Man Too.
- 16 going on 39.
Not everyone hated on Whitney Purvis, and some folks loved the photo that the outlet used in their post. Meanwhile, others went with red heart emojis. So clearly, some people are happy that the wayward TV alum avoided more issues with the law and jail bars.
A First Child At 16
Whitney was just 16 when she fell pregnant, and her relationship with her boyfriend, Weston Gosa Sr., was a troubled affair. They struggled a lot and eventually, they split after she welcomed a second child.
