The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Nikki Isn’t Ready To Forgive Yet – Victor Proves His Love

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) was seen lying in bed with patches over her eyes and no makeup on. But she didn’t care how she looked because her ability to see might be gone forever.
Of course, Y&R fans firmly believe that this show’s leading lady’s sight will be restored this summer. The recovery period and her plight from now until that point in the plot is what daytime has thrived on for generations.
The point of Nikki’s body that is the true focus isn’t her eyes but her heart. It was broken, yet again, by the man she’s loved and will always love more than any other. Meanwhile, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), the hero and antihero of Nikki’s existence, is flashing back to daytime days gone by.
Those Initially Halcyon Days At The Newman Ranch
Longtime viewers, meaning those fans who have watched since the early 1980s, witnessed this couple’s origin story. They know that Colonel Douglas Austin (Michael Evans) first spotted Nikki at The Bayou, which opened this still-running storyline.
While it’s romanticized in retrospective modern terms, that nightclub was a place where Nikki performed on stage. Douglas, who was Victor’s sidekick at that point in this soap opera’s history, believed an introduction was needed.
Victor was smitten at first blush, pursued Nicole Reed (her maiden name), and eventually married her. Nikki’s move to the Ranch opened the doors to a world she could have never imagined, and actualized Y&R’s effort to create a super couple during the days when every other daytime drama had at least one.
Nikki became the matriarch of the Newman family. But controversy was ahead because a glide path to a sweet life wouldn’t have drawn in viewers by the millions.

This Marriage Has Lasted The Longest
Victor was the fourth man Nikki married between this character’s debut in 1978, as originally played by Erica Hope (Nikki), through 1979, when the then Melody Thomas became the recast.
Melody became Thomas Scott when she married Y&R’s executive producer, Ed Scott, in 1985, with that real-life marriage proving enduring as they remain together today.
Nikki and Victor’s first marriage lasted from 1984 through 1988. They were remarried from 2002 through 2008, which makes their current remarriage, which took place in 2013, the longest.
Victor’s first marriage was said to have happened before Braeden’s character debuted in 1980. He arrived in Genoa City, Wisconsin, with his wife, Julia Newman (Meg Bennett), whom he married in 1970 and divorced in 1981.
Nate Hastings Saves The Day?
So, Nikki’s sight was faltering due to a mass that was discovered to have been pressing on her optic nerve.
Thankfully, the new head of Genoa City Memorial Hospital, Dr. Stephanie Simmons (Vivica A. Fox), had a friend and colleague in New York, who flew in to GC and performed successful surgery.
But it feels like Nikki’s resulting blindness will eventually be cured by another doctor who fans are familiar with. Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) isn’t open to risking his hopes to have surgery that could restore his damaged hand, which is what forced him to leave his vocation in recent years.
A double feel-good storyline has Nate’s restorative surgery leading to him operating on Nikki later this year. The audience believes that unless a major shocker is ahead and even if Nate isn’t involved, Nikki will see again and that the first image she recognizes will likely be the famous moustache on Victor’s face.
