The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) continues to referenced her daughter. That’s caused fans to wonder if the off-screen characters are soon returning to Genoa City, Wisconsin.

Allison Lanier (Summer Newman) was seen last year, with the move to Italy following. The audience heard sporadic reports about her since that time, with a recent mention noting that she has an Italian boyfriend.

However, no phone call shots have been seen. So, the end of Lanier’s regular player contract meant that the character went dark. But the rapidly approaching summer season could mean that she’s heading back home.

Return Or Recast In Genoa City?

Lanier took over for Hunter King (Summer), whose run spanned a decade, ending in 2022. It would be intriguing if King returned to the role that made her famous.

Alternatively, Lanier delivered a fine edition of Phyllis and Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) super girl. Her interplay with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) was different than King’s, who played a wild child persona.

Summer’s falling out with Phyllis, like Daniel Romalotti’s (Michael Graziadei), is based on her having stolen Newman Enterprises.

But Phyllis just capitulated to Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), which helped her to avoid criminal prosecution on fabricated evidence that artificial intelligence was used to create.

Phyllis Summers Needs To Reset

The idea that Summers Conglomerate would be accepted by Summer and Daniel proved to be deeply misguided.

Phyllis never anticipated her children’s negative reaction to what she saw as vanquishing the dragon, Victor.

Of course, Summer is a Newman. So, the company Victor founded and has maintained for more than fifty years is part of her paternal legacy.

Naming the company in Summers’ honor didn’t move the soapy needle one inch.

As the viewers learned through relayed interactions, the character Lanier, who last played a calendar year ago, was disgusted by her mother’s actions and cut her off.

That devastated Phyllis and impacted her ability to see a future without her or Daniel in it.

Summer Newman Should Come Back

Kyle fell in love with Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) while Summer was still in town. That pairing was a major part of the reason why Kyle and Summer fell apart.

As devoted fans recall, Claire bonded with Harrison Abbott (Redding Munsell). That really got under Summer’s skin and had an effect on her decision to leave the United States and move to Italy.

Kyle is single, with Claire having eyes for Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) now.

Summer’s man in Italy could be part of her return, or he could be easily dismissed as part of her past, assuming a return to GC. Here’s hoping that happens, especially because the many Summer script mentions imply her return will happen soon.
