The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) has Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) trapped.
While fans believe that he’ll eventually turn the soapy tables on her, Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) is suffering the consequences of Patty’s ongoing obsession.
Patty is clearly not reformed. She agreed to work for Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), who purposely put her in Jack’s path when stranding them on a yacht.
The plan was for Diane, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) to catch Jack and Patty together.
Victor went after Jack during the period before he regained control of Newman Enterprises. Diane’s embattled husband had nothing to do with that business problem, with the Moustache multitasking.
Jack did not almost kill Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), as Victor’s false claim asserts. But there’s no pushing the old boy off his haughty perch.
Patty exceeded Victor’s expectations and has again gone beyond them. Her latest crime has unexplained contact, Dr. Laurence Markham (Jere Burns), conspiring with Patty to kidnap Diane and hold her hostage.
The intention is to force a divorce between Jack and Diane and have him subsequently remarry Patty. That projected third marriage to Haiduk’s character would also mean a permanent release of Diane.
Patty is sincere about loving Jack. Her feelings represent a twisted fixation on the man she first married in 1982 and remarried in 2010.
Jack had a plan to stay close to Patty and use her bond with him. He intended to turn her ire against Victor, with that possibility still being plausible.
But Jack never anticipated the complexity of Patty’s machinations. She was able to exact the loyalty of a clearly deranged doctor and then pull off Diane’s capture, both of which are remarkable in the darkest manner.
Yet, Patty refuses to accept that Jack and Diane love each other. That unbreakable connection, with their son at the heart of their bond, should prove to be Patty’s downfall.
This subject header isn’t misleading. Instead, it speaks to the currency of the unfolding storyline.
Jack will meet with Burns’ character in an attempt to gain intel about Diane. But any morsel of progress won’t lead to her immediate rescue. That will take place as the summer rolls on.
In the meantime, Patty has time and space to further convince herself that she’s realized her goal. But Jack isn’t back in her life. He, too, needs more time to reach Diane and hopefully use Patty against Victor before that happens.
Viewers also anticipate that Diane’s vengeance will be aimed at Victor upon her return and that her loving husband will deliver on his promise, potentially with Patty serving as his willing assistant in that payback punch.
