Maybe that’s why they decided to try and torch it. But these days, when most of the lights and luster have faded, she may be facing an uncomfortable truth. Was destroying her relationship with the Royal Family really worth the money and fame it gave in return?
Meghan Markle’s Lifestyle Brand Reportedly Struggling Following Netflix Exit
When Netflix decided to cut ties with Meghan’s As Ever, it was rumored that the streaming giant was simply jumping a sinking ship. This seemed to make sense, considering that just a few months back, it was revealed that the business was sitting on thousands of unsold stock.
Despite the brand’s stall, Meghan has consistently brought out new bags of tricks in her mission to revitalize the business. Recently, she bundled her candles with free matchboxes, and encouraged fans to incorporate the products into their daily rituals. Previously, she’d also flogged candles bearing her children’s names and titles.
However, in spite of the former actress’s best efforts, Alicia Liberty predicted that business is still not blooming.
After claiming that As Ever’s initial success simply came because of her Royal connections, Liberty added, “Without the royal mystique, As Ever risks looking less like a lifestyle empire and more like a very expensive hobby. And that’s is a difficult position for any brand to be in.”
Can Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Bear To Completely Sever Ties With the Royal Family?
I’m sure we’ve gotten tired of the number of recent articles appearing day by day on the topic of Royal reconciliation.
This time around, insiders have even come forward to claim that Meghan has gotten involved and is actively supplementing Harry’s reconciliation efforts.
“That is why I suspect any opportunity to edge closer to the royal fold again would be impossible to resist. Not because Meghan misses palace life, but because she misses what comes with it,” Liberty opined.
She then observed, “Every headline. Every interview. Every product launch. Every appearance – the royal link is never far away. That is why the idea of completely severing ties has always felt unrealistic.”
“And perhaps that is why reports of a possible rapprochement with the Royal Family never seem to disappear.
Harry and Meghan always appeared to want one foot in and one foot out – retaining the prestige and influence that comes with royal status while enjoying the freedom of life outside the institution.
The problem is that six years on, it is becoming increasingly clear that the royal connection remains their most valuable currency.”
