Welcome to Plathville Season 8 Trailer: Lydia Slams Family Gossip

Fans of Welcome to Plathville still follow the Plath family despite their many complex relationships. And soon, more opportunity arrives as a new season approaches. In fact, it premieres on March 31 on TLC. Once again, things always seem as if they’re just about to reach a boiling point. Read on for more details.

Many Relationship Issues

From social media, TLC fans already know that weddings and breakups happened. Of course, Olivia Plath was the first out of the family. Well, Moriah always had complex relationships, and Kim and Barry Plath divorced.

Meanwhile, Lydia tied the knot. And, Ethan Plath hooked up with someone else. Notably, he questioned Lydia’s new husband’s sexuality. Then there was a big scandal about fisticuffs at a wedding reception. Actually, one has to wonder if the super-religious family ever finds peace.

The Trailer

On Tuesday this week, a Season 8 trailer dropped on Entertainment Tonight on YouTube. In it, the footage revealed that there’s as much tension as there ever was in the family. While Lydia Plath recently celebrated her marriage to Zac Wyse, it appears that the honeymoon phase hasn’t stopped family drama from creeping in.

In fact, there’s definite conflict between her and her mom, Kim Plath. Lydia noted that the two of them “used to be really close before the divorce,” but lately, trying to communicate feels more like “talking to a brick wall.”

Other Tensions & No Olivia

Well, Lydia’s not the only one feeling the tension. The trailer shows other kids and their relationships. And, it seems there’s never a dull moment with fights and bickering. Notably, Olivia Plath wasn’t seen in the trailer. Remember, after Season 7 of Welcome to Plathville, she claimed she’d never film again. Actually, she’s been spotted in Africa working with conservation volunteers in Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, Kim and her partner Ken Palmer still consider their future. Fortunately, it seemed that Kim joked when she talked about more kids with Ken Palmer! She quipped, “We’re not out of the race yet.” Good grief!

Well, not unnaturally, that didn’t go down smoothly with the rest of the family. In fact, looking a bit embarrassed, Lydia Plath’s husband, Zac Wyse, said in a confessional, “I don’t want to talk about my mother-in-law’s fertility.”

Barry Looks For Love

Meanwhile, Welcome to Plathville patriarch, Barry Plath looks for a new woman, as he’s “single and ready to mingle.” Oh, and he’d preferably like a new woman to look like “Sandra Bullock.” Well, he could do worse than Kim, who took off and left him with the kids. While it took ages for their divorce to come through, it finally happened.

However, that wasn’t the really interesting stuff. Instead, it was when Lydia slammed the family about the rumors and talk behind her back. She made it very clear that she’s done with all the drama affecting her newly married life.

Bravely lashing out, she told everyone, “If I find out that there’s still gossiping about Zach and I. I will not tolerate it.” Certainly, it seems the days of Lydia being the quiet, obedient daughter are long gone.
