The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Nick Unknowingly Falling Into Matt’s Trap – Jack Makes A Risky Decision

The Young and The Restless: Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow)

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) has flown into a fit of rage. He doesn’t appear able to get himself back on track either.

Losing Newman Enterprises so suddenly has thrown the entire Newman family off-center. None of them, other than Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), is used to losing or being beaten down publicly in such a brutal manner.

What Nick, in particular, is losing sight of is something that he should see clearly. Matt Clark’s (Roger Howarth) purpose, at this point in this miserable life, is to create as much pain as possible for his enemies, with Nick ranking at the top of his list.

Matt Clark’s Clever Game Is Working

To think that Matt is still not behind bars is a victory. The number of crimes he’s committed is uncountable, and none of the Newmans have ensured that he was turned over to the police.

It is somewhat understandable that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Nick thought it best to handle him themselves. That mindset was built from the decades-long escape act Matt has pulled.

However, vigilante justice isn’t smart or legal. Nick takes Matt from Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) in a pressured move, increasing the likelihood that Morrow’s character will face further physical peril and legal jeopardy. That has to thrill the rope-a-dope character Howarth is brilliantly playing.

Roger Howarth Is So Outstanding

The Matt character dates back to Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) origin story in the mid-1990s. That was the time when Morrow also joined the cast as the writing staff SORAS’d (soap opera rapid aging syndrome) Nick from a young boy to a high-schooler who returned from a boarding school in Europe.

The addition of Howarth, who is a legendary daytime player, with his most recent stop being at General Hospital, was superb. While other actors played this character earlier and did a fine job, Howarth has quickly and clearly created a highly memorable version of this torrid villain who is torturing Nick and Sharon anew.

One would think that Matt’s reign won’t last long. But who knows, maybe Howarth’s stay will extend well into this year, or this character will die and result in the actor staying to play another role.

Jack Abbott Gives Up The Lout

Jack took control of Matt. That happened because Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) cunningly had the entire Newman clan followed, which allowed the Jabot security team to capture him.

Turning Matt over to Nick is a major move. This instantly puts Nick back in the same type of dangerous scenario he was just in, with the car accident and his broken leg resulting.

Seeing Matt in the trunk of Nick’s car implies that a climax is coming. But will it be the final one in this great thrill-ride story or just another jolt along the way?

I think Nikki is a horrible wife to Victor. She is always for Jack, why not just let her and Jack be together. How could she always go against Victor because of Jack. This is just too much and not real. Things like that does not happen.

  2. […] Howarth signed on to the cast, which was quite the coup for this show. His lengthy runs on other soaps, most recently including General Hospital, teed up a likely stellar projection, and this superb actor has hit the mark hard. […]
