Kailyn Lowry Reveals Jo Rivera’s Reaction to Son Elliott Coming Out

It’s been three weeks since Isaac Elliot, the oldest son of Kailyn Lowry and her ex, Jo Rivera, came out as gay. Now, the Teen Mom alum revealed how Jo reacted. Isaac also prefers to be known as Elliot these days, and he decided to come out after his date from his prom was leaked.

Teen Mom Alum’s Reaction

The world heard the news about Elliot changing his name and coming out as gay in several interviews with Kailyn on her Barely Famous podcast. He picked a good time for it, as Pride Month was on the go. MTV fans were always fond of Isaac, who grew up with multiple half-brothers, different dads in the picture, and a quiet personality.

You can watch a TikTok summarization of his feelings below, about coming out so young and so publicly. But, he told his mom that he appreciated her so much despite her lifestyle having him grow up in the public eye. The youngster told his mom that people need to “embrace who they really are.”

Interestingly, Elliot told his mom that they wouldn’t be having this conversation if she wasn’t who she is. And that made Kail a bit tearful.

In the comments, people praised her for being a good mom. One of them wrote, “Everybody wants to hate on her but here he is saying “I’m really grateful for you, you’re the only person I need”… you can’t tell me she doesn’t love and take care of her kids.”

Jo Riviera Reacts

Elliot didn’t mention needing his dad in his life, but Jo did react. After Elliot came out, Kailyn Lowry chatted with Parade and she mentioned Jo’s reaction. Actually, it seems as if he’s perfectly fine with his son’s choice. The outlet cited Kail as saying:

Jo and I had a really good conversation…and you know, he said that he listened to the episodes. He was really proud of Elliott, and he said that he was happy…He was perfectly fine with the questions that were being asked. He understands why Elliott wanted to do it … I had the conversation with him, and he came up to me, you know? And he said that he’s supportive of it.

The Half Brother Has Many Siblings

Since Kailyn welcomed Elliot with Jo Rivera on 16 and Pregnant, when she was 17, she got little help from her family. MTV fans saw that she relied on Jo’s family to help her through a difficult time. Despite Jo’s mom’s support, the couple separated soon after Elliot’s birth.

MTV fans seemed scathing of her because she subsequently birthed six more children, with a number of different dads. These include Lincoln Marroquin, the son of Javi, whom she later married. After that broke up, she welcomed Lux and Creed, the sons of Chris Lopez.

After she met Elijah Scott, the new couple welcomed Rio in 2022, and by 2023, she also welcomed her twins, Valley and Verse. Fans always feared that Elliot would end up being a nanny to the siblings, but he seems to have managed to become a wise young person with his own mind.
