The Bold And The Beautiful Spoilers: Why Liam Spencer Must Die
It has been a rough month for Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton). A brain injury after a fall led to the discovery of an inoperable mass on his brain, and there is no treatment for him. Liam could either wait to die or choose to make whatever time he has left count, so he has opted for the latter.
He has made it his mission to try to push people towards those they love, and to remind people that life is too short to waste a minute of it.
No Miracle Cure For Liam
Let’s be real here. Longtime viewers expect Liam to make a full recovery, because that is the route that the powers-that-be like to take. In the last year and a half, both Eric Forrester (John McCook) and Taylor Hayes (Rebecca Budig) were dying, until they weren’t.
Eric was saved with a miracle cure, and Taylor’s heart failure turned into broken heart syndrome, and she was back to desperately battling Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) for Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) in no time flat.
It is hard to get invested in a serious storyline when the writers have a habit of not fully committing to one, and that is exactly why they need to tell this story with bravery. No matter how much people may love Liam, the character has to die; they must follow through.
Liam’s Illness Is A Huge Catalyst For The Rest Of The Family Dynamics
If they were to walk this back, they would be missing out on the chance to tell an emotional story, one that viewers deserve to share.
In the span of one conversation, we have already seen Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline Maccines Wood) and Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) agree to help each other through this, rather than their usual catfighting over petty things.
Liam talked to his dad, Bill Spencer (Don Diamont), and the two shared a loving moment. There is so much more to come, and this is the kind of story that can simultaneously change many characters for the greater good.
Will They Be Bold Enough?
The writers have given themselves the opportunity to tell a story with real depth, but will they do it? Will they be bold and brave enough to see it through to Liam’s end? What do you think? Are we in for a rollercoaster ride, or will they chicken out last minute and “fix” him and revert back to putting the same triangle that was hot thirty years ago, back on the front burner?
