Telling Liam that she wants their family to reunite was meant as an act of selflessness. However, after Carter overheard that conversation, a soapy reaction ensued. Context was lacking, with Carter believing that Hope was in love with Liam.

Daphne Rose (Murielle Hilaire) is falling in love with Carter, and she didn’t anticipate that when she agreed to come to Los Angeles, California.
