General Hospital Spoilers: Is The Show Cloning Elizabeth Baldwin And Sam McCall With Two Other Female Characters?

General Hospital spoilers and updates reveal some fans see parallels between Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) and Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) become even more pronounced when juxtaposed with two of the newer characters.

Is it possible that the soap is deliberately mirroring the traits of Sam and Liz in these fresh faces?

Sam’s Murder Finally Solved

Fans were upset and surprised last summer when they learned that actress Kelly Monaco was leaving the soap opera; she was let go after portraying Sam McCall for more than twenty years.

The situation angered fans even more because the character was killed off, which many felt was disrespectful to both the actress and the viewers.

Sam passed away in the hospital after giving part of her liver to Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins), but her death wasn’t due to the surgery- someone tampered with her IV, injecting poison.

After months of focusing on the wrong suspect and more deaths, it was revealed that Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) was the one who killed Sam. For a brief time, the people of Port Charles suspected Elizabeth of being the murderer.

A Fan Has Accused The Show Of Cloning Newer Characters As Sam And Liz

Elizabeth has lived in the fictional town since 1997; she had a long relationship with Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson)  before moving on to Jason Morgan (Steve Burton). Fans refer to them as ‘Liason,’ but they eventually split up, and Jason began dating Sam-many ‘JaSam’ fans believe Jason still loved Sam when she passed away.

One fan on Reddit compared the storylines of Sam and Liz to two newer characters. The viewer suggested that the show is trying to make Sasha Corbin (Sofia Mattsson)  and Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) resemble Sam and Liz.

The fan asked others on Reddit if they felt the same way about Sasha becoming like Sam and Willow becoming like Elizabeth.

Other Fans Weigh In On The Question Of Cloning Sam And Liz As Sasha And Willow

The fan did not explain how Willow and Sasha are similar to Elizabeth and Sam; one reason might be that Sasha is expecting a baby from Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell).

Willow is married to Michael but had an affair with Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison); regardless of the comparison’s reasoning, many fans disagreed and expressed their opinions in the comments. “It’s not really a fair comparison, BUT Sasha is a con artist like Sam-both Sasha and Sam have troubled relationships with their parents.

Sasha met one of her parents later in life, just like Sam did! Also, Willow is a nurse, and so is Liz-that’s all I can find for the Willow to Liz comparison.”

More Comparisons Were Made

More comparisons were made, such as Liz has acted selfishly and foolishly, but she has never been as weak and indecisive as Willow. Elizabeth cheated, but when Lucky discovered the truth, she completely ended her romantic relationship with Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss).  She didn’t say, “Nikolas, let’s stay together because Lucky is being unfair;” I can see how Sasha’s situation is similar to Sam’s, but I don’t think Willow and Liz are alike.

I understand the comparison between Sasha and Sam, especially with Jason pretending to be the baby’s father; it would be strange if Jason fell for Sasha like he did for Sam.

I also doubt Michael would be pleased to find them together when he returns-do you think the show is copying Sam and Liz with Sasha and Willow?
