General Hospital Alum Jack Wagner States Fans Still Refer To Him As “Frisco”

Jack Wagner’s current gig on Hallmark Channel’s hit, When Calls The Heart (WCTH), has been well-received from the show’s viewers since he stepped into the role of Bill Avery in 2014.

With that said, General Hospital (GH) audiences will always remember him as WSB spy Frisco Jones.
The actor recently talked about this, as well as comparing the two fan bases, in an interview.

Hearties Remind Him Of GH Fans

Wagner talked about a bunch of interesting things while on the Melrose Place podcast Still the Place. Viewers may recall that the soap veteran played Dr. Peter Burns in the primetime drama from 1994 to 1999.

One major point Wagner made was how WCTH fans, or “Hearties” as they are affectionately referred to, remind him of GH fans circa the 1980s.

Wagner adds that General Hospital was his big break, and the fan base of the show is “still there”. He’s not wrong; next week, the soap celebrates an incredible milestone, 62 years on the air, this coming April 1, 2025! With that said, Wagner also states that when fans fall in love with characters, they become very real to them, admitting that he still gets called “Frisco” more than any other character he’s played.

Jack Wagner Has Been Around The Block

Wagner still being called “Friso” to this day is an interesting thing, as Wagner has had an incredible entertainment career both daytime and primetime, over the years.

He played General Hospital’s Frisco Jones, on and off, from 1984 to 1995 (and appeared in 2013), and became one of the show’s top super couple with Felicia Scorpio, played by his then-real-life wife, Kristina Wagner.

In addition to his General Hospital role, he was also in Santa Barbara (Warren Lockridge) from 1991 to 1993, and The Bold and the Beautiful (Nick Marone) from 2003 to 2012 and appeared on the soap in 2022, too. Wagner is also known for his musical talents and his 1984 hit song, “All I Need”.
