The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Phyllis’ Crush On Billy Isn’t Believable

The Young and The Restless: Phyllis Summers' (Michelle Stafford)

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) sudden interest in Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) seems irrational. It is not that Stafford’s character has ever been the role model of reason, but it feels wrong to have her pursue another relationship with Billy.

Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) was paired with Billy because they both suffered betrayals. Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) unexpectedly reconnected, which they rationalized as a joint reaction to their son’s diagnosis and treatment in Baltimore, Maryland.

While it’s plausible to believe Sally and Billy would commiserate about being wronged. It’s also reasonable to take the leap from that feeling to wanting to spite Adam and Chelsea, which was their original feeling.

Comparing Adam Newman And Chelsea Lawson’s Reconnection

Adam and Chelsea reconnecting is believable. Their dysfunctional marriages resulted in two splits but also included other attempts at reconciliation.

Grossman’s character was often the reason shy Chadam failed. But Chelsea is no angel, as her duping of Billy in Burma years ago proved.

Anyone who takes Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) money to target one of the Moustache’s enemies is dirty. Many years and storylines later, Adam and Chelsea accepted Victor’s offer to move into the second Ranch house.

This reconnection is real and has forward momentum that could lead to a romantic repairing and a potential third marriage later this year.

Sally Spectra’s Interest In Billy Abbott Makes Sense

Some time has passed since Adam hurt Sally. As his recent dream demonstrated, he still feels guilty and has deep feelings for her.

But Adam has accepted responsibility and wants to get back together with Chelsea. She doesn’t want that or is telling herself to give Adam that answer.

So, in flushing Adam out of her system, Sally turned her attention to a legitimate follow-up. Billy was there, available, and shared an interest in her. Okay.

It doesn’t matter if Sally and Billy endure long-term. The point is that this pairing is digestible and appeared after logical plot steps preceded the emergence.

Phyllis Summers Interested In Family Business

Phyllis rejected Billy’s offer to help him take down Victor. After he appeared to reconsider, Phyllis was ready to join Abbott Communications.

She wants to work and help Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) get back on track. Phyllis sees Daniel accepting Billy’s job offer as a way to push past Heather Stevens’ (Vail Bloom) death.

Soap fans are savvy. They know that Phyllis’ emergent crush on Billy, or whatever it is, isn’t believable. Graziadei’s dialogue, where Daniel recognized his mother’s Billy whimsy, inserted a pinch of common sense into what is the start of what might become a new Sally, Billy, and Phyllis triangle.
