What Happened To Lucy The Blind Channel 4 Pianist?
American Idol and other talent shows on TV reveal a lot of gifted kids but Lucy who performed on Channel 4’s The Piano had a story that goes beyond heartbreaking and inspirational. What happened to the blind teen since her first public performance at the age of 13? Read on to find out and watch a video.
Lucy Didn’t Appear On American Idol
Although she didn’t ever appear on American Idol, the blind girl from Yorkshire, UK, would probably have tear-jerked Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and even Simon Cowell. It’s not just a hard-luck story that critics feel gets competitors through to Hollywood Week when it comes to Lucy.
Instead of American Idol, Lucy appeared on Channel 4’s The Piano in early 2023. The Piano video of the young girl went viral and with good reason. The teen who suffers from “mental health, autism traits, and overall communication” issues due to a chromosome problem is also blind per Classic FM. The kid who was struck with eye cancer at the age of nine months blew away judges Lang Lang and Mika.
American Idol Fans Would Love Lucy
If you love Simon Cowell’s talent show then you will love Lucy. The outlet revealed that after she stunned Channel 4 viewers, she landed a documentary titled The Incredibly Talented Lucy. Additionally, she performed during the coronation of King Charles.
In early November, Lucy released her very first album alongside Aled Jones who joined in with vocals for “Silent Night.” The talented pianist who faces so many challenges every single moment of her life now “attends school at Ravenscliffe High School in Halifax.”
Uplifting And Miraculous
Plenty of performers on American Idol have been described as “uplighting,” but with Lucy, her talent seems like a miracle. Nurtured with love by her piano tutor, Daniel, and her mom, without music, she might never have learned to communicate. That alone makes her something of a miracle.
When Channel 4 released a teaser for The Incredibly Talented Lucy, lots of comments arrived. Here are some of the reactions:
- Lucy’s playing piano lifts my spirit everytime and an unexpected tear or two, Love to Lucy her Mom and Daniel her amazing team. I would love to hear Lucy’s version of, “Somewhere over the Rainbow” a piece of heaven on earth.
- She’s like a modern day Hellen Keller as a professional pianist.
- God does really work in mysterious ways.
- Absolutely a fantastic young girl very talented
