There are new clues that suggest Cameron Mathison is leaving General Hospital behind. He just scored another incredible gig. Keep on reading to learn more.
Cameron Mathison Scores New Gig
It’s becoming clearer that Cameron Mathison is walking away from the soap genre. The Game Show Network announced one of the three new shows hosted by the General Hospital star.
The game shows are set to premiere later this year. On Tuesday, April 2, the shows were announced by GSN during the Sony Pictures Television Advertiser Sales upfront.
One of the new shows is Beat the Bridge, based on BBC’s Bridge of Lies. The show will premiere in June and will be hosted by Cameron Mathison.
The goal of the game the show is to successfully cross a bridge by asking challenging questions. The team can only keep the money if they can “beat the bridge” before time runs out.
This could suggest that Cameron is leaving General. He joined General Hospital in 2021 after the Hallmark Channel canceled his daytime talk show Home & Family.
The actor is still involved with the network as he moves to Great American Media. In November 2023, he announced his new multi-picture deal with the network.
“It is very important to me to create well-crafted, beautiful stories,” Cameron Mathison said. “I am grateful to be back at Great American Media and to collaborate with some of the best creative teams in entertainment to make heartwarming content everyone can enjoy.”
Shares Message With General Hospital Fans
Cameron Mathison portrays Drew Cain on General Hospital. Fans already think he’ll leave the show once his contract is up. Mathison took to Instagram to share that news with his fans.
“I’ve been waiting to share this for a while!” he wrote. “This summer I’ll be hosting Beat the Bridge on @gameshownetwork! So excited for you all to see it and so grateful to be a part of the GSN family.”
GH fans took to the comment section to react to the news. Most of them were fearful about his future on the show. Mathison assured them that Drew Cain is sticking around for now.
“Got some questions about how this affects General Hospital… it doesn’t! I already shot Beat the Bridge last year so Drew isn’t going anywhere,” Mathison wrote.
