Days of Our Lives spoilers and updates tease more veterans return to the show and are currently filming as Gloria Loring’s back reprising the role of Liz Chandler.
While unconfirmed, it is thought the returning veterans, some not seen since the 1970s, are working on the episode honoring the late Bill Hayes and announcing the death of Doug Williams.

Like John Aniston’s death, Bill Hayes’ was also unexpected, and a tribute episode as well as an explanation of the character’s death will need to be back written.
Bill’s last taped appearance as Doug Williams is expected to air in May, with his passing on January 12, his tribute episode must be what is in progress.
Victor Kiriakis’ backstory aired months after the actor’s passing, but John Aniston was ill for months; with Bill, it was very sudden although due to natural causes.
In the past, many characters whose portrayers had passed away simply died in their sleep, and it may be the same for Doug Williams.
But viewers will have to wait to see what the writers come up with-the actual episode being worked on may not actually air for months.
DOOL Spoilers: Julie Williams’ Brother Steve Olson Already Set
About a week ago a casting leak came out of Stephen Schnetzer, Julie Williams’ (Susan Seaforth Hayes) brother Steve Olson taping on set.
Schnetzer confirmed he was back for a couple of episodes as Steve, who hadn’t been seen since the 1970s, having left town and never returned-he lives somewhere in Europe.
So, with Stephen confirming two episodes, the backstory of Doug’s passing and funeral may go on for several days.
Now, with Deidre Hall, Days of Our Lives’ Marlena Evans confirming Gloria Loring returning as Liz Chandler on the Locher Room, it must be Doug’s passing and funeral being taped.

Newer Days of Our Lives viewers will want to know who Liz Chandler was-she was a singer at Doug’s Place on numerous occasions.
Like Bill, Gloria Loring also has been a well-known singer in real life and Liz and Bill performed together in his club, which would have been called a “supper club”.
Several years ago, Doug’s Place transformed to more of a restaurant as Doug slowed down, and later became Julie’s Place, a restaurant with healthier options.
Liz Chandler appeared from 1980-1986 and in addition to being an ex-wife of Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) was also romantically involved with Don Craig (Jed Allan) and Joe Gallison (Neil Curtis).
