Young And The Restless Spoilers: Where’s the Summer Teen Storylines?
According to The Young and the Restless spoilers, the show could signify the return of the summer teen storylines.
The soap has focused on young kids like Connor Newman (Dylan McAvoy) and Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez). Some Y&R fans wondered if there would be a shift in the teenagers.
They would like to see more youthful storylines. Up to this point, the show has focused on the corporations of Genoa City.
The Young and the Restless has lost the younger part, even though it focuses on some of the 20 and 30-somethings. This was brought up on the SoapCentral.com Message Boards.
The original poster Shoelover asked: “Bring back the summer teen storylines??? Does anyone remember many, many years ago during the summer when the Y&R writers used to incorporate storylines on the younger characters?”
Y&R fans took to the thread to share their thoughts. Most of them recall the teen storylines that dominated the summer season.
It was common for most soaps to feature teens to attract the kids, tweens, and teens who were on summer vacation and watching these stories with their parents and grandparents.
“I remember these stories and wondered why they stopped them. It was a way to draw young people home for the summer into watching soaps and creating show loyalty,” one fan noted.
Y&R Spoilers: Good Writers Can Provide Teen Storylines
According to The Young and the Restless spoilers, only good writers could bring back the teen storylines. Most viewers don’t have faith in the show. They argued that the writers are already challenged with the task of portraying adults.
“If they were to start them again we need writers who can realistically write for teens and develop stories which would appeal not only to young people but if done well, capture the attention of adults too and not just slapdash something together,” the previous fan added to their comment.
“It was shown time and time again that the ‘younger viewership’ might show a temporary rise, but it was not sustained after the summer…and long-term viewers felt cheated out of seeing their favorites for three months out of every year,” another fan wrote.
The Y&R fans loved the teen storylines. They were fun and juicy in their own way. But they had a sweet and wholesome enough for the daytime show. Most would like to see a return to the summer teen storylines.
