General Hospital Spoilers: Some Fans Aren’t Sorry to See Austin Gatlin Holt Go

General Hospital spoilers report Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) has had a good run in Port Charles for the time he was there, but many fans are still wondering why he was ever introduced to the plotline in the first place.

With this being Roger’s third character on GH, it stands to reason that the writers love bringing him back and giving him new content to play with. Besides, the first time around wasn’t really their fault.

But without any news on whether Howarth will be recast on the sudser, it’s left his fans in the lurch and praying for a miracle. At the same time, many of them aren’t sad to see him part ways with the character of Austin — who never really seemed at home or like he fit in, in Port Chuck.

General Hospital Spoilers — Unresolved Debt

When Austin first came to Port Charles, fans were eager to see where the role would take him. Suddenly, the mysterious doctor who happened upon a laboring Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) giving birth in the woods in Pautauk was living in Port Charles and working at GH.

But the chemistry was never really there between Maxie and Austin, and then he spontaneously blackmailed Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) into using his dating company software to run an algorithm on him and Maxie and see if they were destined to be together.

It never made sense, and it was never really resolved. Fans will never know why Austin has such motivations for a woman he was only lukewarm about.

GH Spoilers Tease He Was Hardly a Quartermaine

The sudden jump from Austin being a stranger from Pautauk to being a blood relative of the Quartermaines also made little sense. He chased Edward Quartermaine’s (John Ingle) will for a hot minute, but then he gave up in favor of having a family relationship with the dysfunctional Q clan. Of course, he followed that up with hardly ever being around to enjoy or get to know any of them.

General Hospital Spoilers — The Fires Never Really Smoldered with Ava

When Austin set his sights on Ava Jerome (Maura West), many of Howarth’s fans thought they’d finally get to cash in on the chemistry Ava once shared with Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth), but it just wasn’t there between these characters in the same way.

Instead of being equals like she was with Franco, Ava seemed a bit bothered by Austin. She never really trusted him the way she did Franco — who was a true ally for her — and he just didn’t get her on a deeper level that she needs to be understood by a man. So, fans aren’t terribly sad to see Austin go, but they don’t want Howarth to go with him.
