From the mayor and her kin to the mob boss and the corporate allies among him, everyone is somehow interconnected in this metropolis that feels just like a small town.
Don’t expect to move on from your exes or banish your enemies from your life either though. You’ll regularly bump into them and likely end up seeing your exes marry your (former) besties in this town!
Still, there’s a certain comfort in knowing someone’s got your back everywhere you go — as long as they’re not stabbing you in it. In other words, the people of Port Charles are just like family — and that’s because a whole lot of them are family.
General Hospital Spoilers — Sonny Is The Tie That Binds
Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) is a longstanding member of Port Charles society. For thirty years, Sonny has built his empire in the port city — and most of the people there support him in doing so.
Early on in his career as a drug trafficker, he painted a picture of keeping Port Charles clean by regulating what could come into and out of it in the illegal trade.
He didn’t want that life for his children, and he’s not a drug user himself. Perhaps that’s why good-hearted people like Laura Collins (Genie Francis) still love him.
GH Spoilers Hint Laura Lurks Everywhere
Speaking of Laura, now serving as the Mayor of Port Charles has given her the opportunity to sever ties with some people who might not necessarily make for good friends.
It’s just optics for the press and local voters. Still, despite having a legitimate excuse to do so, she hasn’t cut ties with Sonny. Quite the contrary, some would argue it’s just the opposite and that they’ve worked well together during her time in office — even if she did have to keep some of it off the books.
Laura is mother to Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss), and grandmother to Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) — who is Sonny’s nephew by way of his late sister, Courtney Matthews (Alicia Leigh Willis).
Laura was also once married to Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary), whose niece — Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) — was married to Sonny. These two characters alone make for fantastic bookends to the Port Charles community.
General Hospital Spoilers — The Quartermaine Clan
Intertwined within the entire community are the Quartermaine’s. Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) is the head honcho at GH, where several other Q’s had had a seat at the board. Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) is among them.
Corinthos by name, and raised by Sonny and Carly, his genetic ties to the Q family come via his deceased biological father, AJ Quartermaine (Sean Kanan).
Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) is married to Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero), who has a child with Julian Jerome (William deVry).
Of course, Julian’s sister, Ava Jerome (Maura West) shares a daughter with Sonny. Olivia also shares a child with Sonny, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), whose girlfriend — Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) — shares a child with Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison), who is a Quartermaine by blood and Michael’s cousin.
Did we mention Sam is Julian’s daughter with Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) — a woman who also has a child with Sonny…and his brother, Ric Lansing (Ric Hearst)? Further, Dante shares a daughter with Lulu Falconeri (Emme Rylan), daughter of Luke and Laura.
Michael’s wife, Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen), recently discovered the identity of own biological mother — Nina Reeves Corinthos (Cynthia Watros). Yes, Sonny’s wife. Indeed, Michael and Willow are both husband and wife and step-siblings by marriage.
