There is no doubt that Deacon knows how to soothe Sheila’s aggressive nature. His profession of love is not something Sheila anticipated, though she did pursue him for friendship, which later led to romance.

It is plausible that Sheila’s steadier approach continues if she agrees to marry Deacon, even if their pairing simply remains an engagement.
