General Hospital (GH) Spoilers: Jane Elliot Dishes On Time As Tracy Quartermaine

Jane Elliot

General Hospital (GH) spoilers indicate that Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) is about to return to Port Charles. Jane dishes on her return home, again.

General Hospital spoilers suggest that according to Soap Opera Digest, fans can thank Deidre Hall (Marlena Evans, DOOL) for Jane Elliot accepting a role in soap operas in the first place. Elliot and Hall worked together on Electra Woman and Dyna Girl, a Saturday morning kid show years ago, and became good friends. True to form, Hall was the hero and Elliot was the evil Princess Cleopatra.

Elliot says that after Hall took her role on Days, she would go over to her house and see scripts from the show. Elliot quickly realized that Hall had her life together and knew exactly what she was doing with it. Hall had the life and the stability that Elliot wanted while she was living paycheck to paycheck and job to job. Then Elliot’s agent turned down a soap job, Elliot insisted she had changed her mind about soaps.

General Hospital Spoilers – From Nursery School To Tycoon Daughter

Elliot says her agent got back to her at the most inopportune time. Elliot was working as a nursery school teacher working from home to home when she got a call for a GH audition. The audition was for someone to fill in for another actress and most of the applicants had dark hair and eyes like the original portrayer, Anne Stuart.

Elliot says the audition was what is called a cold read, meaning you have never seen the material before and there is no time to practice. You read the material and you have to give it your all because you know this is the only chance you will get. Ironically, Elliot did not get that role, she got a role created for her as the daughter of a businessman, Edward Quartermaine (John Ingle).

General Hospital Updates – Jane Elliot Help Create Tracy Quartermaine’s Persona

Elliot says she and the EP Gloria Monty, along with the head writer at the time, Douglas Marland, collaborated on Tracy’s personality and style. Tracy had a very sharp tongue but Elliot wanted more. Elliot says she modeled part of the character after her mother. Elliot recalls that her mother drank martinis and smokes cigarettes.

Elliot says the success of the show was through the collaboration of the other actors as well as the Executive producer, writers, and staff. The cast would spend long hours together when Monty was in charge. Elliot says a lot of the work was done for you back then by being in the building from morning to night, there was such a camaraderie and a closeness that cannot be duplicated.
