The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) has been hard on her husband. It has become fair to ask if Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) deserves the intensity of her anger and if this couple might be trending toward a separation.
Summer was right to ward him off from going along with his parents’ scheme to frame Jeremy Stark (James Hyde). Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) played amateur hoods, with their frame quickly being broken by Jeremy’s skilled attorneys.
Colluding with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is never good. Jack loudly chided his son, and Summer provided the other punches. She was right about that too. But then forgiveness follows, right?
Anyone would be stunned to learn that a parent or anyone assumed dead never died. In Diane’s case, she was never accidentally murdered by Summer’s grandmother, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott). Okay. Kyle was enraged that his mother’s lie meant he was needlessly abandoned as a child. Thank God he had his father, Jack.
But Diane’s heartfelt explanation about suffering mentally and feeling compelled to leave her life proved compelling. Summer accepted Kyle’s rediscovered tie to his mother, knowing that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) is no peach.
The difference between Diane returning from the dead and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) loafing at Jabot is intense. Diane was and remains a threat because of the drama she represents.
Adam did nothing against Kyle and was not disrupting Jabot. Instead, he was distracted by his failed relationship with Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope). That led to him not producing anywhere near his capabilities. Summer was not angered by Kyle’s misplaced desire to protect his dad and the company from a perceived future threat. Instead, she was upset by Kyle concealing his actions from her.
A sustainable Genoa City, Wisconsin marriage can not be about constant grievances. Summer’s points were good, and Kyle came to see his wife’s perspective in both instances. Kyle has admitted why he did what he did and recognizes the break in trust he created with his wife. He has earned time, meaning Summer needs to allow him some storyline space.
Devoted fans know that it took Hunter King’s (Summer) edition of this character years to find common ground and maturity with Kyle. Hopefully, this likable couple does not need much time to cool, stabilize, and reclaim stability on Y&R. This site is a leading source for everything linked to The Young and the Restless.
