Xander had to kidnap Bonnie Lockhart (Judi Evans) to keep her from helping Susan getaway. Xander had kept his identity a secret from Susan and Bonnie because he was wearing a clown mask. Xander set Susan and Bonnie free and hoped that he would not get into trouble. Xander found out that Bonnie and Sarah suspected that he was the clown that kidnapped Susan and Bonnie. Xander turned to Gwen to get her help to convince Bonnie and Sarah that he was not the clown. Xander and Gwen had thought that their plan had worked but Bonnie and Sarah figured out that Xander had been the kidnapper. Gwen had been determined to continue to help Xander.
