The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers and updates tease that Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) is noticeably affected by the intense responses he is receiving from many Genoa City, Wisconsin residents. Many who are chiding him are hardly saints themselves but feel licensed to condemn the man.

Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) is the only person who stands outside of the mob as she is pursuing her redemptive course. However, Walters’ character also recognizes that she relates to Ashland’s backstory but can not throw in with this villain if she wants to fully reconcile with her son.

Harrison’s best interests inarguably include maintaining contact with Ashland because they care about each other. Cutting Ashland off would raise questions in Harrison’s mind that does not need to exist at this point in his young life.

The Young and the Restless Updates – Summer Newman Abbott Keeping Potential Enemy Close

The adage about keeping one’s enemies close is being employed by Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier). She heard all her mother, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), had to say about Diane but also knows that Kyle is in the process of trying to decide how to handle his mother.

Summer is not just Phyllis’ daughter. She is also Kyle’s wife and Harrison’s stepmother. So there is a delicate balance that must be maintained so that Diane does not create a rift between Summer and Kyle.

Ashland will likely see the role that Summer is playing and take notes. Diane’s ability to help him could expand if she can make personal progress.

Ashland Locke Needs His Family

Harrison is his family, according to the legal agreement he signed. Ashland will need to enforce his rights respectfully so he does not alienate or antagonize Kyle.

Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) may eventually prove helpful to Ashland if he can regain her trust. Kyle would be forced to recognize Victoria’s forgiveness at that point in the plot and hopefully give Ashland a break.

Redemption can be earned if Diane and Ashland’s family members allow it on Y&R, with their situations being unique. Whether they also create a personal tie between them remains to be seen.
