Sister Wives Spoilers: Kody Brown Cries That He Is A Victim Of Plural Marriage Double Standards

Sister Wives spoilers and updates tease that Kody Brown’s first wife Meri Brown declared her marriage “dead” but in response, Kody said he can’t bring himself to say the marriage is over. Meri, 50, and Kody, 52, have been married for more than three decades and as she was his first wife it is the longest of Kody’s four marriages.

Their relationship struggles have been front and center in recent years but even with Meri’s many hints, Kody is resisting ending the marriage and would like a reconciliation.

Sister Wives Spoilers – Kody Brown Doesn’t Want to Say Goodbye

Kody explained in an interview with Us Weekly on Friday, “Meri and I have been in a very dark place for a very long time. It’s been more about trying to get ourselves out of this hole that we dug ourselves into.”

Sister Wives cast member Kody added that he hopes “communication” will fix things between them. “It’s been a long time and it’s been very difficult,” he explained.

Kody’s other wives are Janelle, 51, Christine, 48, and Robyn, 42. He is legally married to Robyn and in “spiritual unions” with the other wives.

The Browns Have 18 Children

In addition, there are 18 children in the family, three children-in-law, and three grandchildren. Kody says it is not easy for divorce to happen in a “plural marriage.”

“In plural marriage, I don’t feel like I’ve got the right to say, ‘This is over, this is ending.’”

“I have dominion over my own body and where I’m at, but I’m not in a place where, like, I can say, ‘Hey, I’m divorcing you.’ I can’t do that.”

But at the same time, Kody asserts that his wives “can leave” him at any time. “It’s not working for them; they can leave. Nobody’s going to be a prisoner here.”

Kody went on to say that he is caught in a “double standard” in plural marriage since the wives can walk away but he cannot. The blonde waffler went on to say, “There’s other double standards that we have in the family that we sort of tolerate. And that other double standard is I don’t get to leave, but they can.”

Meri revealed in 2020 that they went to therapy for the relationship but a new clip from the TLC show has Kody describing their relationship as, “just distant and amicable,” while Meri declares: “It’s dead. It’s over.”
