General Hospital Spoilers: James Patrick Stuart Pays Maura West’s Daughter Birdie High Compliments!

General Hospital spoilers announces that actor James Patrick Stuart is paying fellow General Hospital actor Maura West’s young daughter Birdie DeFreitas some pretty high compliments on her first acting job in a performance of the musical “Matilda!”

Birdie West DeFreitas Is Ten Years Old

Birdie is ten years old going on eleven, and she is the youngest daughter of Maura West, who plays Ava Jerome Cassadine on the ABC daytime drama “General Hospital”, and her husband Scott DeFreitas. James Patrick Stuart plays Valentin Cassadine on the same show. Their characters are not married although now related in an in-law sort of way with Valentin being Ava’s new husband’s uncle.

Maura writes in her Instagram account, “My youngest sweetheart is playing Matilda in the wonderful, magical, marvelous musical, MATILDA, opening Saturday…I am so proud of this girl!! Break a leg, Birdie West!!!!!! You mustn’t let a little thing like little stop you.” James Patrick, a father of two boys himself as well as having been a child actor and the son of Chad Stuart of Chad and Jeremy fame, wrote on his Instagram , “Birdie West, the youngest of the extremely gifted children of Maura West & Scott DeFreitas.

This afternoon, I got to watch her in the title role of “Matilda” at Newhall’s Canyon Theater Guild. A voice that puts a lump in your throat, an absolutely delightful & competent dancer… she commands your attention & earns your trust instantly. Maybe Birdie can thank her mom & dad for the charisma, but her chops are all hers. Such finesse, such nuanced & savvy choices…

Matilda the Musical is a stage musical based on the 1988 children’s novel of the same name by Roald Dahl. It was adapted by Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and directed for the stage by Matthew Warchus. The musical’s narrative centers on Matilda, a precocious 5-year-old girl with the gift of telekinesis, who loves reading, overcomes obstacles caused by her family and school, and helps her teacher to reclaim her life.
