Model Behati Prinsloo Opens Up About Postpartum Depression
Behati Prinsloo has opened up about her postpartum depression. The runway model, who has two children – Dusty Rose, 2, and Gio Grace, 10-months-old with her partner Adam Levine, says that life felt a little different after she gave birth to her first child. She didn’t feel like doing anything, going anywhere, or enjoy all the things she did before her pregnancy.
The 30-year-old mom and model opened up about how she felt after giving birth in a new interview with PorterEdit’s digital magazine. She said,
“After my first baby, I had a little postpartum depression. It was difficult to get back into normal life.”
Luckily, the South Africa-born model says that her second time around wasn’t as difficult. Behati explained,
“After the second one, everything felt so much easier — it was easier for me to work out … breastfeeding was easier.”
Behati also said in the interview that even though many models work hard to get back into tip-top shape for the runway, no one put any pressure on her to get back to work. As a matter of fact, she admits that Victoria’s Secret never asked her when she was going to come back to work, as they understood that her family life was a new priority for her.
“I’ve been modeling for 15 years and when I got pregnant — I didn’t want to do anything after giving birth,” Prinsloo said. “I wanted to enjoy my time. I really liked being pregnant and not working. When I got pregnant the second time, I just did the same thing.”
