Canadian 3 Year Old Donates Hair & Captures Hearts
A pretty amazing little girl from Toronto got a haircut for a very good cause – and the internet is loving her for it.
3 year old Emily James from Toronto, and her favourite doll Rapunzel, decided to donate their long locks to children who lose their hair due to cancer.
Amy and Richard James sat down with their daughter to explain that some children are sick and lose their hair as a result. They showed Emily pictures of children with cancer and talked about treatment, hair loss and the need for wigs.
The adorable clip shows Emily’s uncle, Mathew Collins, cutting and styling both her and her doll’s hair.
Emily says:
“I don’t want any kids to be sad that they have no hair. What I want to do is give them my hair.”
Emily donated 6 inches of hair to the Canadian Cancer association, where it will be used to create a free wig for a paediatric patient. They chose the organisation for many reasons, one of which was that Emily would receive a thank-you from the person who receives her donation.
Of his daughter generously giving up something she loves, James said:
“We hope to instill an attitude of giving to all of our kids. We want them to realise that everything we have is a blessing from God and it’s really important to give to others when we can.”
Her parents say that both they and Emily are also enjoying the ease of a shorter, simpler style.
