Natural Ways To Boost Energy While Pregnant

Pregnancy is a beautiful thing, but it can be very exhausting as well. This is my second time around and I am definitely more tired than I was with my first child. That is what chasing a toddler all day does to you!

Though you have to cut back on caffeine, and cannot take many supplements, there are several ways to naturally boost your energy while pregnant.

Stay active – I know, I know, it is the last thing you want to do! But it pays off. Even a brisk walk around the block can leave you with a boost of energy which will help you get through your day.

Yoga can also give you a nice boost and help calm your nerves and body. This has been very helpful for me, as I was put on moderate activity as of this week. I can still get in some exercise and that much needed stretching, while not over doing it.

Stay hydrated – It is very important to drink tons of water during pregnancy. You are making a person! Not only does water make sure your body makes the correct amount of fluids but it also helps circulate and replenish them. Steer clear of sugary drinks, they can spike blood sugar, and when it drops, will leave you feeling more exhausted than before. You need at least 64 oz of water per day.

Nap – Take a 90 minute nap or even a 15 minute cat nap. It will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Just get off your feet and rest your eyes.

Watch what you eat – You want to be sure you are eating enough of the right foods. Things like fruit, veggies, nuts, whole grains, proteins, and yogurt are easy to digest, therefore take up less of your energy. Think lean and clean.

Feeling run down and tired is just a part of the beautiful thing that is happening inside your body. Some days will be harder than others, but it is well worth it in the end.
