Jennifer Garner Goes to Washington

Jennifer Garner Goes to WashingtonJennifer Garner visited Capitol Hill, Wednesday to support early childhood education and improved access to child care. She accompanied Sen. Bob Casey, Sen Barbara Mikulski and Save the Children’s Mark Shriver.  This is the fourth trip Garner has made to Capitol Hill in the last two years.

“You were able to sit in a circle when you got to kindergarten — that is kindergarten readiness,” she said. “It’s being able to get along with your peers. It’s knowing what a rhyme is. My daughter, my 2-year-old can spout Mother Goose from here to next week. That comes from school. I am telling you that when you go into a house that the kids are growing up in poverty there is not a book in the house. There is nothing from Playskool. There are no developmental toys and there are exhausted moms who do not have any energy left to get books to their kids, or the money to do it, ” Garner told the audience.

Good work Jen!
