Remembering Special Memories With My Dad For Father’s Day #Giveaway
I’m an only child and was a little girl who loved all the girly girl things. This posed somewhat of a problem for my dad who is an outdoorsy type of man. He really couldn’t get into my ballet classes! Instead, he bonded with me by including me in the hobbies he loved.
My dad is a hockey fan and he had me in skates as soon as I could walk. Some of my most cherished moments are the times in which we skated all afternoon at the skating rink across from our house. My dad was a great skater and being a kid I thought he was definitely NHL quality! I remember being so proud when the high school students wanted him to join in on there games. He also took me to hockey games and even stood outside of the old Montreal forum so I could could get Patrick Roy to sign my studded 90’s jean jacket.
My dad’s second love is fishing. Obviously, he made sure to teach his little girl how throw a fishing line and even pull the guts out of a fish! Yup, you read write my dad made me do that! Still, those are the memories I cherish because that’s how we bonded while I was growing up.
On Father’s Day, I always try to get my dad a little something. Like most men, my dad isn’t that thrilled to receive flowers. He isn’t the easiest person to buy for either. To be honest, picking out a present for him for special occasions is not the easiest! He has everything he wants and knows what he likes. That’s why I like to purchase gift cards for my dad, so he can get exactly what he wants. I know my dad would love a gift card from Sportchek.
This Father’s Day there is a fantastic gift card promotions going on. Safeway, Katz, Metro and Sobey‘s are offering select gifts cards at discounts. Some the gift cards include – Sportchek, iTunes, Spafinder, Roots, The Keg and more. I love when gift card’s go on sale. Is there any better value?
The promotions and run dates are different in each province, so be sure to check out this Father’s Day Gift Card Promotions PDF tomorrow (July 13th) to find the promotion details in your area.

My dad is hard to buy for, too. I usually just get him a gift card.
Unfortunately, my Dad is no longer with us….my father-in-law has been gone even longer. No matter what you get them, they will be thrilled. It’s just being remembered that is so important.
I don’t buy gift cards too often because I’m afraid they’ll go unused but I receive quite a few.
I do give Giftcards as gifts once in awhile…some people are hard to buy for.
Yes, I do give gift cards as gifts for some people, such as my oldest two sons, sometimes my husband and for relatives who don’t live near by.
My dad likes a gift card to IHop he demands one every year and is disappointed if we get him anything else.
Sounds like you had a great dad. Thanks for hosting such a wonderful giveaway.
My husband loves getting gift cards for holidays. That way he always gets what he really wants!
I lost my dad when I was 15 and my husband 10 years ago, so father’s day isn’t exactly really pleasant for me. Great dads are awesome but rare these days
It sounds like a wonderful father-daughter relationship. Those are the moments that beautiful memories are made from.
My first memory of my dad was us going camping when I was little. Thanks for sharing yours!
It sounds like you have a great relationship with your dad – cherish those moments. I miss my dad terribly. I do like to spoil my husband for father’s day though I am not sure what he wants this year.
I like hockey too, especially live. I agree gift cards are a great gift because they allow the recipient to get what they really like/want to have.
I am fortunate to still have my father at the age of 90. I have such great memories too. He is simply the best.
What a sweet post. Yes I give gift cards ( and I like to get them too! ) π
That’s so neat that your dad found a way to share his loves and interests with you. Dad bonding rocks!
My dad loves fishing too! I feel like I grew up on a boat since we were always out in the ocean on his boats. My dad is super hard to shop for because he buys what he likes before we even have a chance to get it for him. So he usually gets a gift card plus a beach day or dinner.
Nice!
Awesome giveaway, I would love a Spafinder gift card; it’s the perfect gift!
Depends who the gift is for. But I do give giftcards often.
My dad is a fisherman too. I don’t buy him any gifts just go visit him and sit an talk, which I am sure drives him crazy because he hates sitting and talking and spends most of the time just asking me is there a reason I am still talking and if I want something. SO this year I am going to take him a bunch of projects that I want him to complete for me, and I won’t do any talking.

We usually go with a gift card or some kind of odd trinket that is Harley Davidson related for my dad. This year we are going the Harley Davidson route.

Giftcards are always a welcome gift and perfect when you just don’t know what to get. Although I usually try to pair it with a thoughtful card so the receiver know how much I care about them too.
Shopping for Fathers Day is super hard for me! I never know what to get any of the fathers in my life. Hoping this year is different.
