Review: Tinkertoy 65 Piece Essentials Value Set – K’Nex
This year when Celeb Baby Laundry attended a mommy blogging conference one of the events I was invited to was the Sweet Suite 2013. After the exclusive toy preview event I was sent a box containing many toys. One of the toys included was Tinkertoy‘s 65 Piece Essentials Value Set – K’nex.
Tinkertoy construction sets have been around forever. I use to have one when I was a little girl and I loved it. Can you believe the line has been around since 1914. It just proves that fun toys never go out of style.
The pieces have changed slightly since I was young and now some of them are bendable, so you can not only build but you can make cute things like flowers.
My daughter Ava is too young for the set, so Celeb Baby Laundry‘s contributing mom, Jen reviewed the product with her children Mason and Maya. Here is her review:
Our children Maya and Mason were really excited when they saw the box, they love to create things and they got right to work. The set included spools, rods, flags, washers and end caps. Mason just loves building and this kept him occupied and stimulated for hours. When it was dinner time it was hard to get him to stop building he was having so much fun.
Once dinner was over Mason went right back to building he started off following the colorful instruction sheet that was included in the box but soon was using his imagination and building many different things. Mason was so excited that he could build things on his own. My husband and I were thrilled to see how excited he was.
Once Maya saw how much fun Mason was having she joined in the fun. Even though she is only 2-years-old she was able to build a few things. Actually I think Maya had more fun taking apart what Mason built 🙂
Product Features: “Build a whole bunch with your favorite Tinkertoy® parts! The Tinkertoy® 65 piece Essentials Value Set includes spools, rods, flags, washers, end caps, and more! Building ideas for 7 models plus building tips! Your child can add these parts to another Tinkertoy® building set (sold separately) or build anything they imagine!”
What parent would not love Tinkertoys? Rather than have your child playing video games they can be stimulated and use their imagination. If you child likes to build, then Tinkertoys is the perfect toy for them.
It is a great idea for Holiday Shopping, so head out to buy one! To find out more about Tinkertoys, head over to their website [CLICK HERE]

I was originally thinking whoa my daughter would love these but heck I may have to get the for my self lol 🙂
OMG I remember I had these when I was a child. Nice to see they are still around. I will have to pick them up for my granddaughter!
So cool that tinker toys are still around. I remember them when I was little and I am in my 40’s.
I LOVED playing with Tinkertoys as a kid and want a set for my kids. I’m sure they would love them too!
This looks like a lot of fun 🙂 I loved Tinkertoys growing up!
I think my 3 year old would love those. I’ll have to put them on the list for her upcoming birthday!
I loved tinker toys as a kid! We have blocks, but not these. I believe this would be a great Christmas gift for my youngest
Oh man I loved those as a kid. I actually have a wooden Tinkertoy set for my 4 year old. It’s cool to be able to play with him with something I did when I was a kid. Almost like a shared bond 🙂
Tinkertoy makes me want to go back in my days as a child. The children of today are very lucky to have such nice and innovative toys!
Tinkertoys are a classic toy every child should have! I love them!
This looks like such a smart toy and it probably develops the kids’ cognitive abilities.
Just look at little Maya trying to figure out how to piece everything together! <3
Oh wow, I didn’t even realize that they still made these! I thought it was sort of a “toy of the past” kind of thing that people had to find at garage sales! I’ll have to check into getting my little guy a set for Christmas, he is SO into building things now!
I would love this for my toddler. Teaches hand and eye coordination and I bet would keep him interested for hours.
It looks like the kids really had a fun time. Great review on one of my favorite toys for kids. 🙂

They look like loads of fun and I love that the kids look like they are enjoying it.

Looks like they had a great time! I loved Tinker Toys when I was little! This reminds me that I should get some for my daughter for Christmas! 🙂
These toys never get old, no matter how long they have been around. I used to love them as a kid.
I’ve actually never seen Tinker Toys before. This would be perfect for my house. No toys that I would afraid of stepping on in the middle of the night. Thanks for sharing.
I love Tinker Toys! One of the best toys on the market for kids!
I remember tinker toys! I haven’t noticed them in stores any more, it’s great to know they still do exist!
I remember my brother having the original wooden type, then my now adult children had the plastic ones, but wow, I HAVE to get these new ones for my home daycare and grandkids to play with, they look so fun!
I was just a bit too old for K’nex when they came out, but I’d love such bendable pieces.
I want my sisters to have kids so I can buy them cool things like this.
Knex toys are always so much fun and totally will keep the kids busy for hours and spark their imagination. My kids when they were little loved playing with them, too.. thanks for sharing and loved your pictures.
WOW! I didn’t know they still made Tinkertoys!! And they look so much better than they used to.
I loved Tinker Toys when I was a kiddo and so did all my younger sibs and the kiddos I used to babysit. Glad to hear they are still around, going to have to get a box for my nephew now!
