The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Phyllis Stops Matt From Leaving, Dangerous Obsession Begins?

The Young and The Restless: Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford),

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Matt Clark’s (Roger Howarth) frustration level crossed a new threshold. But are his comments about leaving Genoa City, Wisconsin, ones that he plans to follow through on?

Willing viewers accepted the soapy premise that someone with Matt’s backstory could be allowed to roam free in this Midwestern setting.

They understand that he committed a series of crimes over the course of three different time periods and that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is protecting and managing Howarth’s outstanding presentation of this reforming villain.

It’s fair to wonder at this point in the plot if Matt will revert to his old ways because of the pressure his victims are applying. Yet, there is one character who believes in him and could become his next romantic pairing.

Sharon Newman Was The First Victim

Sharon Collins (Sharon Case) was single when she was first seen in GC. She and her disabled mother were poor souls.

Matt (as initially played by Eddie Cibrian) was Sharon’s boyfriend who eventually went wild. His attack became the first time Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) defense was required.

Matt (next played by Rick Hearst) reappeared a handful of years later after having plastic surgery. The iteration seemed to end when he tried to frame Nick for his seeming murder.

Matt Clark Hasn’t Been Playing Games

GC residents aren’t fully sure if Matt has been telling the truth about his transformation into a regretful man.

But the viewers have been allowed to see and hear Matt when he’s alone, which is how they know that the blunt force trauma that his wife, Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun), applied to his head did change him.

The Young and The Restless: The Young and The Restless: Matt Clark (Roger Howarth)

Matt understood that pursuing a redemptive path in the city where he’s known to have wronged a string of people would be hard. But he willed himself to believe that it was possible.

He also recently shared with Sienna that he knows the Newmans might be playing him. Yet, Matt wanted to persist until another run-in with Noah Newman (Lucas Adams) caused a reconsideration and his mention of leaving town.

Enter The Phoenix, Phyllis Summers

Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), as much as anyone, is a living example of how someone can survive despite having committed various crimes and being on many people’s dismiss list. That, among other attributes, makes her a good pairing for Matt now and into a hopeful future.

Howarth and Stafford represent a Y&R screen partner power couple. Their talent individually is unquestioned. Together, they are daytime magic.

Purely based on this last paragraph, Phyllis must block Matt from exiting GC stage left, right, or center.

Here’s hoping the plan is to have them remain together indefinitely because these actors and the characters they portray are great.
