Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) was someone Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) thought he could manage. Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) was totally opposed to his father’s optimism and has already been proven right.
Jack was stunned that Patty acknowledged knowing what happened to Diane.

Diane Jenkins Abbott Wants Husband Back
Diane offered a revealing line before Burns’ character returned to his home and presented the lie he and Patty created. She said that she needed to get back to Jack.
Viewers last saw both characters together in Maryland on a compelling Beyond The Gate series of crossover episodes.
Diane’s presence with Jack was explained to the audience by Jack, who said that she was putting on a front for their friends at the fundraiser.
Kyle correctly told his father that he and his mother were getting along better than they had in months because of the trauma the tornado created.

But that intention never included Patty being involved in Diane’s capture.
Bergman’s character is resourceful. So, he knows that pacifying Patty is needed because she currently has control of Diane’s existence.
An unexpectedly opportune time to extract as much information as possible from Diane about Victor exists.
Jack can also use Patty’s twisted fondness as a weapon against the Moustache, but he’ll need to precisely use what has long been an unstable force to do so.
