The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers document that Ivy Forrester (Ashleigh Brewer) has gone well beyond what any doting family member would have done. Viewers see that she’s obsessed with Electra Forrester’s (Laneya Grace) love life. But why is that?
Meanwhile, another unusual event continues to play out. Luna Nozawa’s (Lisa Yamada) seemingly unintended killer has fallen in love with the man she was fixated on.
Melissa Dylan (Sydney Bullock) appears to be a repackaged version of the same character Yamada played through to her well-deserved Daytime Emmy win. But there must be more depth to what the writing staff is doing.
Why Replace Luna Nozawa With The Same Character Type?
Many soap operas have swapped villains through the daytime years. Good and evil exist at extremes in this genre, creating natural conflict and evergreen opportunities for eventual resolution.
Luna tormented the young man she set her sights on. Viewers recall the day when she first saw him with Electra. Nozawa’s character was caught in a doom scenario, similar to the one her grandmother, Sheila Carter Sharpe (Kimberlin Brown), has experienced for years.
Devoted fans wondered when, not if, Luna would be written off to jail, she would escape justice, or leave town and start over as her other grandmother, Li Nozawa (Naomi Matsuda), had hoped for. Instead, finality was delivered when Luna was killed by the car Melissa was driving on that film noir-inspired night in the area surrounding the beach house where Will Spencer (Crew Morrow) lives.
Melissa’s personality doesn’t match Luna’s. But there are some comparable personality points, and fans only know what Bullock’s character claims as her backstory, while wondering if she’s told the whole truth.
Electra Forrester’s Forced Romance Switcheroo
What would be a good adjective that could accurately describe Ivy’s behavior in the past handful of weeks?
Ridiculous is a good one. Let’s go with that because Brewer’s character has behaved like she’s a middle school pal of Electra’s rather than her middle-aged aunt.
Some grace was given to Ivy after she approached Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) and asked if he would consider getting back together. That was a reasonable request at that point in the plot because he was single and they were once married.
But Ivy responded wrongly to Liam’s compassionate rejection. Rather than focus on meeting another guy, she began manipulating Electra’s love life and has realized her goal.
Melissa Dylan Loves Will Spencer
This section header could also be on a B&B t-shirt. Ivy could have blanketed this version of Los Angeles, California, with them in an attempt to play even more mind games with Electra. But that wasn’t necessary because of what RJ Forrester (Brayan Nicoletti) did.
Electra pulled away from his first kiss but eventually accepted his overtures. That happened after she made Will admit that he kissed Melissa.
It feels like too much has happened and that Electra’s eventual awareness of Ivy’s misdeeds will come too late. The damage has been done, with the We necklaced couple’s break currently irreversible.
