The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Matt Linked To Delia Tragedy? Adam Heads Back To Vegas For Answers

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) has been spotted in Las Vegas, Nevada. Devoted viewers knew that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) would become a central part of this next chapter as soon as that setting was named.

Grossman joined the cast in 2019, debuting as a version of Adam who had amnesia. Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) was the first person from Genoa City, Wisconsin, to spot the man who was again assumed dead.

Retrospective scenes are a welcome reminder for longtime viewers and a helpful introduction for those who weren’t watching the revival of one of this era’s great Y&R characters. As fans recall or now know, Adam was calling himself Spider and had a handler whose name was Riza Thompson (Tina Casciani).

But why include Adam, in particular, in this part of the plot?

Riza was connected to Adam when he was living through a malaise all those soapy years ago. He was in an explosion that Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) caused in an attempt to kill the man who accidentally ran down her and Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) daughter, Delia Abbott (Sophie Pollono).

The above happened at the end of Justin Hartley’s (Adam) tenure, which lasted from 2014 through 2016. He replaced Michael Muhney (Adam), who famously portrayed this character from 2009 through 2014.

Viewers recall that Hartley’s edition was presented in softer tones, following Muhney’s electrifying rendition. However, Chloe never accepted Hartley’s return from the dead character and wanted to blow him to smithereens. His miraculous survival was revealed when Phyllis saw him at a casino in Vegas.

While all of the above is playing out, Phyllis is still in control of Newman Enterprises. She’s under intense pressure to cave to Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), who’s kidnapped Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), and return Newman Enterprises to its founder.

This isn’t the first time the Moustache has held Jack hostage. He did so in years past, swapping him for a doppelganger then. Marco Annicelli (Bergman in a memorable dual role) was a Peruvian drug lord. Victor got out of prison so he could assume Jack’s life, which included playing a husband to Jack’s then-wife, Phyllis (played at the time by Gina Tognoni).

So, it’s intriguing to see multiple storylines revisited and renewed in this multi-angle tale. It begs the question if another open-ended climax is also about to be re-explored.

Matt Clark Was The Unknown Driver Who Killed Delia Abbott?

One of the arguably greatest open-ended storylines happened when Adam (then played by Michael Muhney) hit Delia. That happened after Billy (then played by the late, great Billy Miller) left her alone in his car for a matter of minutes so he could purchase a cake for a children’s party.

Delia got out of the car to let her dog out to relieve himself. She ran across the dark road to follow Dash. Adam approached in his black sports utility vehicle and felt some type of a bump. He stopped, got out, surveyed the area, didn’t see anything or anyone, and continued home.

Adam later learned that Delia was hit in the area he passed through and found remnants of her Halloween costume in his wheel wells. He didn’t report what happened because Conner Newman (Judah Mackey) needed a cornea transplant, which was donated by Chloe and Billy, all of which led to the later reveal where it appeared Adam was guilty. Even he believed it.

However, viewers have long wondered who was behind the wheel of the car that trailed Adam. Just imagine if Matt is revealed as the real villain in what would be one of the more monumental, mind-bending, and redemptive reveals in this soap opera’s storied history.
