Right now, probably everyone in the world knows about the Middle East war, and certainly, if you scrolled the news and socials today, you’d likely think it’s the uppermost thing on everyone’s mind. But is that for real? Read on to find out what else trends in search data.

More Than Just War?

While the Iran war and geopolitics definitely make for a large amount of outlet coverage, here’s something to think about. Actually, millions, if not billions of folks search for other subjects of interest. So, it seems the world didn’t come to an end in the Middle East, and in some cases, alternative interests trend.

This week, search trends on Google suggested that AI trends. A lot. Why is that? Well, it’s no longer just for mommy to ask for simple recipes, or for boredom-busters anymore. Actually, the days of using the chatbots for fun seem so yesterday.

Admittedly, folks still search for ChatGPT and Google Docs, but plenty of other queries evolved. Gone are the days of “write me a cute poem.”

Big Business Trends & AI

Currently, it seems more like a business tool as folks search for things like “manage my supply chain,” and “fix this code.” Meanwhile, others brainstorm for college degrees or better workflow.

Certainly, big business jumps on the AI train. According to Gartner, a major tech research firm, about 40 percent of businesses now use “Agentic AI.” In other words, it moves well beyond an AI chatting with a non-threatening and irritating voice on your phone.

In fact, AI’s morphed into a skilled worker that just gets on with it without needing the old “carrot and a donkey.”  And notably, inline managers no longer need to worry about self-motivating staff. Sorry Stephen Covey, your 7 Habits just landed in the ditch.

Sport Trends

While the war rages in the Middle East and travelers post scary bombing scenes, celebs pontificate about politics. But, it seems notable that it’s not universally consuming. For instance, in London, massive interest arrived about a public auction involving cricket. The sport might not be huge stateside, but other countries adore the game.

Did you know that “The Hundred” league held its first-ever big public auction for players in London? Of course, it’s all about money. Of course, it always was. Behind the scenes, it’s the same money and franchises behind the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, it seems way more commercial these days.

Right now, it seems that cricket stars like Deepti Sharma and Sophie Devine seem less like humans, and more like commodities. Interestingly, the change makes fans of the game seem almost obsessive about it: to the point where searches about the auctions rivaled searches about the Middle East war.

A 66 Million Search Phrase

Bad Bunny searches literally went through the roof on recently. If you’re American, you might know about Bad Bunny because recently, he performed at the Super Bowl LVIII halftime. Plus, he did well at the Grammys. Why the sudden interest during a Middle East war that should consume the minds of everyone on the planet?

Well, he performed a tour which ends in Tokyo, Japan. So, plenty of folks there searched for things like tickets and merch. Despite world tension, it seems that the Puerto Rican superstar peaks in popularity. Additionally, he’s a perfect escape from all the dooming and glooming on mainstream media.

This week, it seems that folks enjoy other things not involving potential apocalyptical endings. Notably, it seems to prove that the billions of people would rather focus on good times, work efficiency, and games.
