Susan Lucci Talks Reprising Erica Kane On General Hospital

General Hospital spoilers hint that All My Children (AMC) Eric Kane’s name has been dropped several times in the land of Port Charles recently, which has had fans buzzing about whether she’d ever appear in storylines on the ABC soap. The character’s portrayer, Susan Lucci, recently set the record straight.

Would Susan Lucci Appear On General Hospital?

Lucci recently had an interview with TV Insider, when the topic turned to the soap icon reprising her Erica Kane role on GH. Lucci noted, “I don’t want to say never, but I want to see if this really pans out with Kelly and Mark. That would be ideal.”

She went on to say, “I’m very flattered if the fans want that and if General Hospital is writing that. It’s a very good show, so we’ll see down the road.”

Lucci’s mention of “Kelly and Mark” refers to AMC alum, Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley Vaughan), and her husband, Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo Santos). The two are working on creating two All My Children flicks that would air on the Lifetime network.

Ripa has never given up hope that a Pine Valley revival can take place. She’s tried recently to develop an All My Children reboot for primetime, with the project titled “Pine Valley”. So only time will tell if any of these ideas come to fruition.

Susan Lucci’s Legacy

For the longest time, Lucci felt like “always the bridesmaid, never the bride” when she continually scored a Daytime Emmy nomination, but no trophy.

That is, until 1999, when she finally won the coveted award. With that said, Lucci and her character, Erica Kane, remain one of the most recognizable figures from daytime television, even after all these years.

Lucci was on AMC from 1970 to 2011 but also appeared on primetime shows in guest roles over the years. Some series she’s worked on include Army Wives, Hot in Cleveland, and Dallas.

In addition, Lucci recently was part of “Outcome”, a dark comedy movie which was directed and written by Jonah Hill, who also starred in the film.

All My Children fans should note that Lucci will appear on ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’ this coming Tuesday, February 3.
