Atkinson’s character has a long history of driving himself over the soapy cliff. His many instances of bizarre and even violent behavior indicate a permanent condition rather than periods of strife.
Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) has been quick to defend his son in the past, with that defense serving as a form of enabling. Thomas’ mother, Taylor Hayes (Krista Allen) is a world-famous physiologist. But her ability to diagnose Thomas’ mental health is naturally compromised.
Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) is pushing Thomas to take charge of Douglas. But Steffy’s pro-Forrester stance impacts her ability to weigh the odds with any sense of balance.
Hope Spencer Did Nothing Wrong
The strongest argument for Hope maintaining full custody would be her consistent performance as his adoptive mother to date. Yet, Thomas is Douglas’ biological father.
Thomas and Hope’s emotions will push this developing storyline for a while. But a middle ground will hopefully be reached soon.
