The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Phyllis Partially Redeems Herself – Patty Thrown By Loss Of Leverage

The Young and The Restless: Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford)

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) duped Matt Clark (Roger Howarth).

Viewers know that if he were at full mental capacity, Matt would have never walked into the trap she set for him at the ridiculously named Summers Conglomerate.

Matt also turned his back more than once on the woman who, as he said, conked him on the head. That was foolish, with amnesia not being a plausible reason for him agreeing to meet with Phyllis, go to her office, or to even consider anything that she was saying.

Centering on Phyllis’ claim that she had feelings for him was believable. As she said, he’s vulnerable and feels something was off with Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk). Viewers know that he’s not safe with either lady.

Patty Williams Lost Her Grip

Patty believed she outsmarted Phyllis, and that was temporarily true. But Matt replied to the voice mail Phyllis left for him.

Responding to her call felt unusual because he’d recently left Patty after chatting with her in Chancellor Park. That followed her finding and rescuing him in the Genoa City Athletic Club suite, where Phyllis rendered him unconscious.

But Matt apparently reached out to Phyllis because he feels romantically drawn to her. The same isn’t true of Patty, whose charms aren’t what they used to be, though she thinks otherwise.

Victor Newman Along For The Capture

Phyllis texted Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) a photo of Matt in what is currently her executive suite office. He showed it to his father while Patty was at the Ranch, with both men being coy about the nature of Phyllis’ communication.

Nick was supposed to go to Newman Towers alone. But based on the probing conversation he had with his father, before Patty arrived to make what she thought was a deal with Victor, Braeden’s character accompanied him.

Victor told Phyllis that what she was trying to pull was over, and it was time to turn Matt over. Howarth provided a reaction shot to Phyllis, like he was her puppy, and that she did him wrong.

The Newmans could see that Matt genuinely didn’t know who they were. Matt knew that Phyllis had betrayed his trust again.

Nick Newman Collapse Was Inevitable

It’s never good when someone’s body reacts by shutting down. However, that defense mechanism can lead to better days ahead.

Viewers saw Morrow’s character pop another pill and continue his pattern of heavy sweating. Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) recently told Victor that he believed Nick was using.

So, the collapse isn’t a total surprise. That event should lead to Nick finally getting into a rehabilitation program, with Victor handling the vexing Matt problem. That villain must be dealt with carefully, which Nick wasn’t capable of doing in his frazzled state of mind.
