The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) went on another trip with Holden Novak (Nathan Owens). Their bond has been tested in recent months, but now appears stronger than ever. But what about Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor)?

The Kyle and Claire show took plenty of plot space and appeared on a trajectory that would end with them forming a family that included Harrison Abbott (Redding Munsell), with that child actor arguably being one of the better in his age group on this show in many years.

Harrison loves Claire, who seemed to be the swapped replacement for Summer Newman (last played by Alison Lanier), who was written off to Italy.

Summer Newman’s Departure Reconsidered

Why was Summer written away from Genoa City, Wisconsin, if only to later see her romantic pairing, Kyle, then dropped from his new romance?

Well, fans know that the writing staff considers the chemistry between characters and gauges viewer reaction as time flows. So, it could be that a creative decision was made to reset where Erin’s character was going.

Also, opportunity impacts what is possible in this daytime world. Owens was seen as the right actor to join the cast, with viewers recalling that he, in effect, replaced Damian Kane (Jermaine Rivers).

Holden Novak Has A Lot On His Plate

In recent weeks, Holden heard his mother tell him four things that were mind-blowing. The man he thought was his father wasn’t that, but instead Malcolm Winters (Shemar Moore) holds that distinction.

Stephanie Simmons (Vivica A. Fox) also told Holden that Malcolm needed a bone marrow transplant. Then, the biological connection to Malcolm also meant that Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) was his sister.

All seems to be going well with Malcolm’s prognosis, due to Holden’s boss, Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn), selflessly making the needed donation.

Combined with all of the above, Holden has grown much closer to Claire in recent weeks as they’ve shared their concerns and deep feelings. This is the coupling, not a revisited storyline with Kyle, that appears most likely.

Kyle Abbott Focused On His Parents

Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) was assumed dead and buried since Kyle was a boy. But then a surprising revival tale was told, and Diane was back, never having died.

As Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) recently told her sister-in-law, she must consider the great lengths Kyle and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) went to in forgiving that transgression.

Despite what Diane offered about her mental health status at the time, she’s been well for many years, but kept her status concealed.

So, Kyle doesn’t have time to focus on his love life because his family is badly fractured. He, like Jack and Diane, is dealing with a returned Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) and, as always, another Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) attack.
