The news of the Ritz cracker recall targeted 20-pack cartons. Per The Healthy Digest, the company confirmed that the products were stocked by Wegmans stores, and there may be other national-level retailers with them available.

Incorrect Labels

The main issue lies with the label information. So you need to check for yourself. Some of them were labeled as cheesy, but inside, the crackers are actually peanut butter. While that might seem a bit disappointing, you also want to check them because people with peanut allergies could get very sick.

Those familiar with the allergy are probably aware that eating anything with it could land you in the hospital. In severe cases, sufferers could end up with anaphylaxis which presents with swelling of the airways. Additionally sufferers can experience blood pressure problems.

The Product Details

Consumers were advised to check their food storage spaces as soon as possible. The affected products in this particular Ritz cracker recall have a UPC of 0 44000 07584 2 and the “Best By” dates were either January 8 or January 15, 2026. Notably, you need to check for the plant code “AE.”

If you have them in your home, then you can return them to retailers. Additionally, Mondelez supplied a contact number: 1-844-366-1171. Actually, you shouldn’t confuse this recall with the one that happened in July this year.

A Recurring Problem

The recall seems very similar to the warnings and recalls from July. Back then the FDA made a public announcement about the voluntary recall of four different-sized cartons of Ritz crackers of the peanut butter sandwich type. At the time, officials said that the cause of that incident might be the film packaging rolls from a supplier that were defective.

Although the Mondelez company took big steps to correct the problem, it seems that there are still issues with labeling. Once again, there were no reported illnesses, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen. Notably, some retail outlets could still carry the products, so check your boxes anyway, as you might have picked them up from retailers like Target, Walmart, and Kroger.

As of December 2025, media reports on the incident in July that led to the recall are still talked about. General advice is that if you suffer from any food allergies, it’s a very good idea to double check the ingredients before consuming them.
