Maurice Benard Reflects On Mental Health & Joyful Moments

General Hospital star Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) is enjoying a holiday break for a while, and he shared a very personal post on social media. Read on to see all the details from the ABC veteran.
Deeply Personal Post
On Saturday on Instagram, Maurice wrote a long caption that seemed deeply personal. At the same time, he got emotional and talked a lot about gratitude and reflection. His long caption mentioned his family, career, and mental health journey.

Maurice Benard, in his post, made a list of the things that are good in the world. After all, folks need good things as the world seems to get crazier every year.
He showed gratitude by saying, “Being at home with family is good. Having a job is good. Going to therapy is good.” Besides that, he revealed his love for sports by saying, “Boxing is good to love. The 49ers are good to love.”
The real-life Sonny Corinthos also talked about his mental health outreach via his State of Mind podcast. “Being bipolar is good, having anxiety and depression is good.” Huh? Well, it seems that what he meant was that he’s grateful because he can go to therapy and take treatments like “acupuncture” for his bipolar.
Prayer, Kids & More
The list by the GH star also pointed to other sources of joy. He spoke about “playing with my grandkids” and “playing with my animals.” He also likes to “look in the mirror” and do some prayer. Next, Maurice Benard talked about how “Having friends is good. Being affectionate, even though you can’t, is good. Crying is good.”
The General Hospital star didn’t stop there. Instead, he went on and talked again about his podcast. He said, “Having State of Mind is good because it helps people, and I know that.” Additionally, he was happy with the feelings of “joy” and “peace within” as well.
Well, that seems very positive, and it does show that if people look for gratitude, there are reasons for it all around them. So, Maurice ended by saying, “AND IT’S GREAT TO BE ALIVE.”
Fans React In The Comments
Many GH fans know that Maurice might not have been alive today if he hadn’t gotten help for his mental health. So, many of them loved his message. One of them wrote, “Love everything you’ve written…”
