GH Star Maurice Benard Requests Donations For Joshua
On Friday, Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) on General Hospital shared a story about his son, Joshua Benard. Recently, he’s been doing that, but fans like Joshua because he sometimes appears on the ABC daytime drama.
A GoFundMe Appeal
A GoFundMe appeal to help Joshua appeared on Maurice’s Instagram story feed. Well, GH fans know that Maurice isn’t scraping the barrel for a bit of moolah. So, why is his son asking for donations outside of the family?
The text on the slide revealed what’s going on. It said:
Bring Ladybug to Life: help me make my first Music Video. $5,900 to goal [gofund.me/joshua-pray-31oct] Donate now!
At the bottom, Benard wrote, “my son @jjbenard needed money for his first music video. He wanted to raise it on his own. I thought it was very noble. let’s help make his dreams come true.”
Joshua Explains More
In the GoFundMe link, the son of Maurice Benard told his followers that he wants to raise funds, and why. He said, “Hey, I’m Joshua. I wrote ‘Ladybug’ after a tough time.”
Next, he explained, “Honestly, I didn’t think it would really connect with people. I mean, it’s about a bug. But it meant a lot to me, so I started singing it to people on the street.”
He continued, “To my surprise, a lot of them really connected with it. Then I met these amazing film students at a park one day, and they loved the song and wanted to help make what would be my first music video.”
He added, “I’m both nervous and excited to finally share it.”
He finished by saying, “Thank you to anyone who can help make it a reality.”
Will GH Fans Help?
The fundraiser hasn’t been up for long, and so far, it has raised $280 from seven donors. With a target of $6K, the talented young man still has a way to go. However, many ABC fans like what they see in the young man. So possibly, more dollars will roll in over the next few weeks.
Recently, fans saw that at the age of 62, Maurice Benard still goes to the gym and spars with his son. They’re both crazy about boxing. Well, it seems that their close bond also works outside the ring, as his dad kindly shouted out his fundraiser.
