When Erin Bates Paine from Bringing Up Bates gave birth to her seventh baby, Henry, she fell extremely ill with a sepsis infection. Now, she struggles with mobility. Read on to find out what might have happened.
Erin, who once claimed she wanted at least 10 babies, might slow it down a bit now. While she went home after weeks in various hospitals, she was confined to a wheelchair. Naturally, that’s way better than being in the ICU. But some fans wonder if she might not be able to walk again.
The Instagram post that revealed she was just happy to be at home with her family, also talked about complications.
In her caption, she wrote:
After almost three weeks in the hospital, I have never been so thankful to finally head home to our babies. We don’t have all the answers yet, and I still don’t have function in my right leg, but we are choosing to count every blessing—especially the gift of being together again. Your prayers have carried us through and mean the world to our family.
As you can see from the caption, the reality TV alum specifically referred to her leg not working properly. Plus, she mentioned dozens of tests. But possibly, the cause of immobility might be her original diagnosis of septic shock.
The Bringing Up Bates alum from UPTV might have gotten issues with mobility if she had sepsis. According to Leigh Ann Callahan, and Gerald S. Supinski in a paper on PubMed:
In survivors, sepsis increases the risk for the development of persistent acquired weakness syndromes affecting both the respiratory muscles and the limb muscles.
However, it should be noted that much more research seems to have been done on respiratory weakness rather than skeletal muscle atrophy. Hopefully in time, Erin Bates Paine will get the answers she needs to fully regain function of her leg.
When E! News on YouTube reported on the leg’s “Lost Function,” many UPTV fans were able to comment on it. One of them suggested that the issue might stem from the actual birth of her child.
They wrote, “The right leg issue might be an issue from epidural (if she had one). While I was not completely bedridden, it did however take over 6 months to get full feeling and mobility back to my right leg after childbirth???”
Hare are few more thoughts from fans:
